Malk – Finally Loner [Sub:mission Audio]

Sub:mission Audio returns with their 5th release, with something of a coup for the label as they sign a tune from Invisible Recordings alumni Malk. Finally Loner brings together lush pads, sometimes eastern sounding synth swells, warm bass and an energetic, rolling break on a tune which successfully straddles the gap between musicality and dancefloor sensibilities. Definitely one for the deep heads.

Over on the flip label co-founder Altered Perception keeps the vibe rolling and melancholy, with soft strings, echoing chords and warm bass growls all melting in and out of the mix over a backdrop of crisp breakbeats. Fans of Klute’s work should definitely check this out – watch out for the release hitting stores from August 11th.

Altered Perception – Don’t Test [Transmission Audio]

Transmission Audio return with their second release featuring more dark, techy beats. Don’t Test sees label runner Altered Perception carving out a nice grimey sound, with crisp breaks and a gangster rap sample characterising the tune over a solid bedrock of modulated sub.

Over on the flip Automate offers up a slightly looser drum sound with plenty of funk layered over a playful bassline with a hint of menace.

Altered Perception – Phantom Power / Bricks [BASSordeath]

Terabyte Records co-founder Altered Perception steps up to give us a pair of heavy-hitting techstep rollers for US label BASSordeath. Both tracks display tasty warped basslines and crisp, rolling percussion, with Bricks adding in some apt hip-hop sampling for good measure.

Check out the clips below and watch out for these dropping via all good digital outlets on August 26th.

Liquid Technology Vol. 1 [Terabyte Records]

Midlands powerhouse Terabyte Records switches tack on their latest release, moving away from the moody tech they’ve been building a name for themselves with and putting out an EP of smooth liquid just in time for the summer sun. Label co-founder Altered Perception provides the bulk of the tunes, teaming up with Zach Herer on the beautiful vibes of The Rain and the more leftfield beats of Bitter Expanse; the latter truly pushes the boundaries, combining an unconvential beat structure with some nice jazzy synth work and deep pads.

The man goes in solo on Lunar, serving up a deep, atmospheric roller in the style of the likes of Seba or Blu Mar Ten. Finally Automate (not to be confused with the label of the same name) takes things to a jungley place with the appropriately named Shuffle Hustle; it’s all in the skittering break on this one folks. Look out for these dropping on digital from July 29th.
