Audio – Bag of Bones EP [Blackout]

Blackout returns with their 3rd EP of big, bad dancefloor neurofunk, this time from scene veteran Audio. Fresh from his recent releases on Dutty Audio and Forbidden Society and busy ramping up to release another album on Virus, it seems nothing is stopping the man this year!

The EP delivers four tracks of atmospheric, sci-fi imbued neurofunk, with the pedal taken off the gas to some extent compared to previous Audio releases – I found myself waiting for the sledgehammer bass and not getting it. This is not to say the tracks are lacking in weight, merely that Audio has avoided the extremes of tearout rewind seeking neuro in favour of a slightly more refined approach. Check out the beats below and make up your own mind, and watch out for the release dropping September 2nd.

In The Mix…Teddy Killerz

Teddy Killerz get on the 1s and 2s for the latest episode of the Eatbrain podcast, delivering 68 minutes of rolling neuro goodness. The mix is packed full of new material from Teddy Killerz (including a bunch of new Bad Taste dubs) alongside beats from the likes of Audio, Aeph, Mefjus, Mindscape and Gridlok. Hard and heavy from start to finish, get to know!

Forbidden Society & Donny / Audio – Creator & Destroyer / Burn It Down [Forbidden Society]

ForbiddenSocI’m quite partial to a bit of the hard, nasty stuff from time to time and few do it better than Czech producer Forbidden Society. When it comes to face-smashing, metal-influenced, gabba-tinged belters, he’s definitely your man. For this particular release, he’s teamed up with Barcode head-honcho Donny, the other master of pots-and-pans darkstep wrongcore, so no surprise then that this release is a little special!

The build up on Creator and Destroyer features some nice sampling of one of Bane’s speeches from The Dark Knight Rises and some dirty reese action before dropping into a totally stomping beat with some classic Donny metallic snares on the go. As if this wasn’t enough, the flipside comes from none other than Audio, who provides a fantastic scuzzy roller reminiscent of his early work on Dylan’s TechFreak imprint. Just to round things off nicely Forbidden Society provides The Punch as a digital only bonus track.

Check out the previews below and watch out for release date info soon!
