Sustance – False Data EP [Citrus]

Sustance serves up the latest release for prolific Dutch neurofunk imprint Citrus, and it holds true to the sort of quality we expect from one of the longest running labels in the scene. Tight, heavy drums, impressive bass modulations and maximum dancefloor energy characterise all the tracks on the EP, with Chicanery proving a particular highlight with it’s combination of lush atmospherics and an infectious bass riff.

MC Kryptomedic – Labels [Citrus Recordings]

Kryptomedic teams up with Emphasis, Kaiza and Phlage for the latest single on prolific dutch neurofunk label Citrus Recordings. The flow on this one pays homage to the best record labels in the D&B scene in novel fashion, name dropping Renegade Hardware, Shogun, Cause4Concern and plenty more in Kryptomedic’s smooth style.

The flip sees Rune & Kaiza jumping in on remix duties, providing a heavier and more dancefloor focussed refix which maintains the vocal but boosts it with a sturdy backbone of rolling beats and distorted bass. Check out the clips below and grab this one from your favourite digital outlet now.

Classic Track: Mindscape & Jade – Unpleasant Surprise

R-741771-1162870736

Today’s classic track comes from what some see as the golden era of tech/neuro D&B and harks back to a techno-influenced side of the sound which is seldom heard these days. Providing the flip to Black Sun Empire’s Crash Bunny, Mindscape & Jade’s Unpleasant Surprise builds things nicely with rolling breaks and an acid synth line before dropping into an absolutely tearing reese bassline in the second half the verse. This one is a sure-fire dancefloor slayer!

State Of Mind vs. Soligen & Type-2 – Biology EP [Citrus Recordings]

Citrus return with their first release in 6 months; an unusual lull for the generally busy Dutch label. Kiwi neuro duo State Of Mind kick off the 12″ with another slice of their signature rolling dancefloor business; big atmospheric pads and what sounds like glockenspiel on the intro give way to a typically savage bassline and a big fat kick snare rhythm. Dancefloor heft in spades; no surprises there given the SOM back catalogue.

On the flip Lincoln-based rising stars Soligen & Type-2 present Biology. Showing off their sound design chops on the intro with some weird and wonderful noises, we’re treated to a smooth flow from an unknown voice (possible one of the duo themselves) before the tune drops into a sub heavy bas and breaks workout. Check out the clips below and watch out for this on vinyl and digital from September 15th (pre-orders available now at Triple Vision).

Rregula & Dementia – Turning Point LP [Citrus]

Long running dutch neurofunk imprint Citrus Recordings is gearing up for another LP release from Australian/German production duo Rregula & Dementia and true to form for both the label and the artists it’s packed full of futuristic neurofunk of the highest grade.

Vinyl buyers are treated to a pair of 12″ releases; the first plate sees Disphonia joining the studio fray for a dancefloor banger on Doom Loop while MC Kryptomedic provides vocals for a tough stepper on the flip. The second plate sees the big guns of the scene drawing up as we’re treated to remixes from Mefjus and Optiv & BTK, neither of which disappoint.

Watch out for the vinyl releases dropping on March 10th and 24th, with the full album following on CD and digital on March 31st.
