Double Helix – Engine EP [Ammunition]

Austria’s Double Helix drops his latest neurofunk weapons for Ammunition Recordings, bringing two fierce new tracks to the table. As with previous releases this is high impact, precision tech D&B at its best; Engine leads the charge with some seriously meaty beats and bass while Deep Down switches things up to play with a shuffling drum pattern and ominous atmospherics.

Check out the clips below and cop this one from your favourite store right now. If you want more from Double Helix, be sure to check out his exclusive mix for DNB Dojo from last year too; tasty neurofunk goodness all the way.

Bowsar & Double Helix – Hyperbolic / Circuit [Full Force]

Double Helix’s previous releases for Deep Field Audio have really impressed me so the news that he was teaming up with Bowsar for a new single on Full Force was appropriately exciting! The tracks don’t disappoint either, delivering the kind of high octane, precision neurofunk that so many try but so few actually pull off.

Hyperbolic builds from a solid backbone of high impact drums, adding in an obscene level of bassline detail and modulation for a hyperkinetic badboy of a tune! Circuit goes for a slightly more sparse approach, allowing the bass riffs to breath a little between the beats but still keeping the energy and impact high. Fans of Phace et al should definitely give this one a look. Check out the clips below and grab this one from your favourite digital store now!

Double Helix – Muffler / Nebula [Deep Field Audio]

Deep Field Audio return with another pair of futuristic neuro beasts from Austrian producer Double Helix. Intricate and monstrous in equal measure, the influence of producers like Phace shines through on Muffler, imbued as it is with darked, warping basslines, epic synth work and glitchy, heavy-hitting percussion. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then the German neuro legend should certainly be flattered, and anything the track lacks in originality of style it makes up for in heft, intricacy and production quality.

Over on the flip Nebula continues the trend with crisp percussion fused together into a less angular, more rolling beat. Dialing back the aggression and amping up the groove, this one should provoke a little less bassface and a little more movement on the floor, a theory I’ll definitely be testing in future DJ sets. Check out the clips below and decide for yourself! You can pre-order the release via the DFA Bandcamp and it’ll be dropping via all good digital outlets from December 2nd.

To celebrate the release Double Helix has put together the third instalment of the DFA podcast, featuring cuts from himself alongside new beats from the likes of Phace, Noisia, Mefjus and a few classics for good measure. Check it out and grab a free download below.

Double Helix – Leviathan / Microgravity [Deep Field]

DFA 002

Double Helix returns with his second single for Deep Field Audio and fans of the gritty sound of modern neurofunk certainly won’t be disappointed with the release. Leviathan lives up to its name with some pretty huge bass underpinning a classic sci-fi infused neuro roller, with some exceptional attention to detail on the percussion, particularly in the back end of the tune.

Over on the flip, Microgravity piles on the atmosphere in the intro pared before dropping into a slightly more pared-back roller with some excellent Phace-esque bass texture.

Check out the tunes below and look out for these dropping June 24th via all good digital outlets!
