Hydro & War – Censorship [Blendits]

Blendits return with their biggest release yet, snagging a pair of techy rollers for the label’s increasingly impressive discography. Hydro & War provide the A side, combining crisp beats and techy bass with a layer of spooky melodies and atmospherics, apparently passing some comment on the production of pop music in the process.

Eastcolors comes in for remix duties on the flip, bringing a new slant to Mindmapper & Silvahfonk’s Polygraph. The soft pads and chords of the original are embelished, richer and fuller, and the previously steady mix is swapped out for a frenetic array of chopped breaks. The mixture of musically beautiful elements and rough and tough drumfunk beats is a potent combo! Check out the clips below and look for this one on vinyl and digital from November 24th.

Programmed V3.0 [ProgRAM]

ProgRAM are back with another fine selection of dancefloor focussed D&B for the third of their “Programmed” EP series. Slang Banger turns in an old school floor shaker in the form of Rip Slinger – distorted 808 hits, monstrous reese bass and huge tearout amen breaks are the order of the day on this one. Track two sees Audio teaming up with Meth for a tidy remix of Eastcolors Murderer; not their most remarkable work but a solid roller nonetheless.

Noel turns in a similarly solid roller with tons of groove on Defence, leaving Kelle to round out the EP with a sharp, angular belter in the form of Extortion. Frenetic, head banging rhythms on this one! Check out a mini mix of the tracks below and grab the EP exclusively at Beatport now.

Eastcolors – Toys / Creeper [ProgRAM]

Russian producer Eastcolors follows up his contributions to the ProgRAMmed EPs with a new single for the RAM sub-imprint. Toys shows a great flare for combining dancefloor sensibilities with more musical elements, lush chiming chords taking centre stage on the intro before giving way to clean breaks and weighty sub.

Creeper takes things a bit darker with a jungle influenced break and heavier filtered mid-range characterising the tune; this one is definitely the beast to the A-side’s beauty. Check out the beats below and grab the release on vinyl and digital now!

High Rollers Vol. 1 [Addictive Behaviour]

New label Addictive Behaviour launch their debut release with a selection of tight, techy beats from four of the hottest up and coming producers on the scene. Detail opens the salvo with Lost Time, a slice of robotic funk that takes a few pages from the book of Phace, without going in quite as hard as the German neuro don tends to hit us. Next up Eastcolors delivers the twisted, warped sounds of Mad Day. Eerie synth sounds on the intro give way to groaning modulated bass and a driving drum beat that keeps the tune rolling along with a fearsome precision.

L33 offers up some interesting sounds on Discrete, with what sounds like plucked strings blending nicely with a minimal yet techy composition. Finally Minor Rain takes us on an old-school tinted ride, modern neurofunk bass combining nicely with the classic synth stabs of early Virus Recordings material. Equal parts dancefloor sensibilities, technicality and attention to detail, fans of the cleverer side of techstep should definitely give this EP a look.
