Ed Rush & Optical – Fabriclive 82

The latest in Fabric’s long running Fabriclive mix series comes from none other than techstep pioneers Ed Rush & Optical. As you’d expect the mix is full of meaty basslines, massive double drops and neurofunk energy, with a few classics sprinkled amongst the mostly up to the minute D&B. There are also some exclusives including a couple of tracks from the long awaited follow up to 2009’s Travel The Galaxy…let’s hope this means we’ll hear the album sometime soon!

You can check out a brief teaser for the new mix along with a previous Fabric promo mix from Optical below; hit up the Fabric store to pre-order the mix on CD now ahead of the July 24th release.

Ed Rush – Scarabs / Boxcar [Piranha Pool]

Ed Rush launches his brand new Piranha Pool imprint with a pair of big bad neurofunk killers. Both tunes have their eyes firmly focussed on the dancefloor, and while they don’t offer tons of surprises they’ve got bass groove and production sheen in spades. Scarabs is the more up front of the two tracks while Boxcar aims for deeper but still pretty grimy territory. Check out the clips below and grab this on vinyl and digital from your favourite store now!

In The Mix…Esion

Automate head honcho Esion gets on the 1s and 2s to deliver a stomping 75 minute mix of wall to wall neurofunk bangers. The tracklist speaks for itself really with beasting tracks from the likes of Prolix, Black Sun Empire, Break, The Upbeats, Noisia, Spor and Ed Rush to name just a few. One In The Jungle Archive

aOne-in-the-jungle

Anyone unfamiliar with the early history of Jungle / D&B would do well to investigate the now legendary One In The Jungle show. Broadcast on Radio One from 1995 to 1997 and spanning three series, the show gave Jungle a platform on the station for the first time and paved the way for the music to move from its roots in the infamous London pirate radio scene onto more legitimate broadcasters.

Some of the episodes have been lost forever but many have been salvaged from old tape recordings and a partial archive is available to download from http://oneinthejungle.co.uk/. Better still, many of the episodes are now on Mixcloud, and a few of the best are embedded below. Check it out, relive the memories, and feast your ears on the rise of a scene.
