Dojo Damager: BSE & State of Mind – Kill That Noise

This week’s Dojo Damager comes courtesy of Black Sun Empire & State of Mind with the ferocious Kill That Noise. Taken from their brand new EP The Violent Five (which we’re guessing is a little nod to Tarantino and The Hateful Eight), KTN delivers an absolutely slamming slice of tech D&B; simple but effective bass swells and an old school rolling break backed up by a hypnotic, bleeping lead melody make this a sure fire smasher. Weighty!

Black Sun Empire & State Of Mind – Until The World Ends [Blackout Music]

When it comes to heavy dancefloor neurofunk, Black Sun Empire and State of the Mind have been at the top of the game for some time, and their latest collaborative EP sees them on fine form. There are no surprises on offer here, just high octane, precision engineered D&B poised to tear up a club crowd. Check out the clips below and head to Beatport to grab the EP now.

State Of Mind vs. Soligen & Type-2 – Biology EP [Citrus Recordings]

Citrus return with their first release in 6 months; an unusual lull for the generally busy Dutch label. Kiwi neuro duo State Of Mind kick off the 12″ with another slice of their signature rolling dancefloor business; big atmospheric pads and what sounds like glockenspiel on the intro give way to a typically savage bassline and a big fat kick snare rhythm. Dancefloor heft in spades; no surprises there given the SOM back catalogue.

On the flip Lincoln-based rising stars Soligen & Type-2 present Biology. Showing off their sound design chops on the intro with some weird and wonderful noises, we’re treated to a smooth flow from an unknown voice (possible one of the duo themselves) before the tune drops into a sub heavy bas and breaks workout. Check out the clips below and watch out for this on vinyl and digital from September 15th (pre-orders available now at Triple Vision).

Borderline – Flashes of the Future [SOM Music]

State of Mind welcome fellow kiwi producer Borderline to their label for his debut LP and if you like your D&B energetic then this should be right up your street! The album serves up 12 crisp tracks of neurofunk business with an emphasis on growling basslines and rolling breaks, with all the tunes of an exactingly high quality.

Highlights come courtesy of the squelching bass of Colossus, the wobbly modulations of State of Mind collab Square One and the catchy vocal led Feelings, blending an R&B style vocal with heavy D&B beats to great effect. Check out clips of some of the tracks below and grab yourself a copy at your favourite digital outlet now!
