Memtrix – Numbers [Lifted Music]

Memtrix has been turning heads recently both in terms of production and DJing, with a huge remix for Black Sun Empire just out and some huge sets at Renegade Hardware in London and beyond. Ever since I first heard his work for Breed 12 Inches I’ve been eagerly awaiting every new tune and his forthcoming single Numbers keeps the quality sky high, combining epic synth texture and huge drum hits with his trademark hyperkinetic movement in both the lead lines and the bass. Check it out below and watch out for this dropping on Lifted very soon!

Gerwin – Against The Clock / See Thru My Eyes [IM:Ltd]

Gerwin follows up his superb Lying Portraits single with another tidy release for IM:Ltd. Against The Clock packs rolling techy vibes and some serious drum punch that brings to mind some of Octane & DLR’s stripped back numbers, while See Thru Me Eyes takes the drums down a notch to focus on some superbly engineered hollow, warping bass. Check out the previews and grab this one from your favourite digital outlet, out now!

Fearful – Tongues / Nostromo [Diffrent]

I first heard Fearful‘s material via their excellent release for Automate Tech last year and have been keeping an eye on them ever since, and listening to their productions evolve continues to be a treat! Their latest material for Diffrent sees them exploring deep, dark, leftfield territory with beats that deliberately eschew the traditional drum & bass structure while retaining the same tone and sonic pallet.

Tongues hits down with huge sub bass and heavy impact percussion, combined with truly cinematic soundscape work to create a tune which sounds more like the soundtrack to a robotic cult meeting than a piece of dance music. Nostromo keeps things weird and wonderful with a skittering, angular beat and more clever atmospherics.

To celebrate the release the boys have also put together a tidy 30 min mix showcasing the new tracks alongside other deep business from Diffrent, Automate and Proximity along with a bunch of new dubs. Check it out below and grab the release from your favourite digital outlet.

Shogun Audio London Warehouse Party

Shogun Audio come correct with another massive warehouse party in London on April 26th. The lineup is nothing if not epic, with sets from Noisia, Friction, Spectrasoul, Icicle, Alix Perez, Rockwell, The Prototypes, Om Unit, Technimatic and more! Those in the capital definitely shouldn’t sleep on this one. Check out the Facebook event for full details.

In The Mix…LD50

Central Beatz resident and Dispatch Records sleeve designer LD50 has been behind the decks once again and recorded a tidy mix of the latest tech and neuro D&B, and neither the mixing nor the selection disappoints! With great new tunes from the likes of Mefjus, Phace, Misanthrop, The Upbeats, C4C and more, the mix hits all the right spots. Check it out below and grab yourself a free download!

Lenzman – Empty Promise [Metalheadz]

Metalheadz bring us another must have 12″ from Lenzman! A side Empty Promise covers all the bases nicely; rolling breakbeats, soft pads, soulful vocals and just enough grime in the bassline to give the tune some teeth. Then over on the flip Makoto gives Broken Dreams the remix treatment, making the song his own while retaining the trademark vocal that made the original such a big hit on release.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, the ‘headz camp are also giving away a nice little freebie in the form of Subwave’s remix of Lenzman & Riya’s Open Page. Grab yourself a copy here and look out for the Empty Promise 12″ dropping on April 29th.

Xtrah – Shock Treatment / Going Deeper [SGN:Ltd]

SGN:Ltd continue their run of heavier tunes, with a new 12″ from the mighty Xtrah! Following on from Optiv & CZA’s big bad dancefloor business on the last release, Shock Treatment brings the darkness, combining some pretty gnarly low end with tight, varied percussion, skittering hats and snares filling in the tune and giving it tons of movement.

Over on the flip Going Deeper defies the standard B-side convention and goes heavier rather than deeper! Clattering amens and some hefty kick drums give this tune just as much weight as the A-side, though the composition stops short of full-rinse, retaining some subtlety. Look out for this one dropping April 22nd on digital and vinyl.

Dominic Petrie – Valid Invalid/Con Games [Phuzion]

Smooth liquid lovers take note; Dominic Petrie (previously known as Y2D) has just served up two lush slices of soulful, melancholy D&B for Nookie’s Phuzion Digital imprint. First up we’ve got Valid Invalid, characterised by a simple piano hook, crisp breaks and ethereal pads.

Over on the flip Con Games adopts a slightly jazzier approach while still keeping things pretty understated. Guitar licks and sublime percussion combine to produce a tune that’s simply drenched in atmosphere.

No release date on these yet but watch out for them dropping sometime in the next few months.

Amoss – Bumbaclart / Dilate [Horizons]

It’s been a few months since the last Amoss releases dropped but far from slacking off it seems the boys have been busy in the studio knocking up some characteristically dark beats. Both Bumbaclart and Dilate showcase the stripped back style we’ve come to know and love from the duo, kicking in with crisp, tribal drum lines and tons of sub. Minimal, atmospheric and powerful, these are beats for the drum & bass connoisseur.

As if that wasn’t enough Andy and James have also recorded the latest Horizons Music podcast which features new cuts from Hybris, Fearful and Fracture alongside their new beats for Horizons and some amusing patter to boot. Check out the podcast below and grab the single on promo from the Horizons store.
