None Decay – Choke / Stockbroke [None Decay Music]

Cambridge based duo None Decay are slowly building a rep for all things deep, dark and 170 and their latest self released beats continue that trend nicely. Choke kicks down with a heavy halftime riddim and some serious bassweight from the subs, driving things along to a tribal shuffle.

Stockbroke meanwhile proves a more energetic workout, replete with the same atmosphere but imbued with an insistence from a selection of beats, stabs and bass growls. You can pick up the tracks now from the None Decay Music bandcamp page so check out the clips and get to grabbing them!

Chroma – Territories / Brain Strain [Renegade Hardware]

Following their appearance on the Limber EP last year it seemed likely only to be a matter of time until more Chroma tunes surfaced on Hardware and the new 12″ about to drop sees the boys on fine form with two tough techstep offerings for the legendary label.

Territories keeps the beats skittering and meshes traces of dub nicely with dark bass and rugged beats, while Brain Strain heads for more rolling territory, bringing tasty bass modulations and finely crafted percussion lines sure to move a dancefloor. Check out the beats below and watch out for the release on vinyl and digital from April 7th.

Delta Heavy – Apollo EP [Ram Records]

Ram Records have long been the kings of the polished, big room D&B sound where the bight of tech and neuro cross over with the energy of jump up and the sheen of liquid to create a sound that’s difficult to argue with in many ways. Their latest EP from Delta Heavy sits very much in that vein and while it may not be the cleverest selection to see the light of day in recent years it certainly makes up for it with sheer production quality and dancefloor vibes.

Apollo gets things off to a flying start with huge a huge bassline, rolling beats and melodic swells all coming together for a full spectrum workout. The World Is Yours drops things down for a more rhythmic workout with a little more euphoria on the breakdowns and less teeth on the bass. Last but not least Badboy Style combines an old skool reese bass line with some distinctly trap infused beats and a hint of old skool rave for a tune that’s sure to polarise opinion; this one’s a bit marmite folks.

Check out the clips below and grab this on vinyl or digital from your favourite store now. Watch out for Delta Heavy on the road over the next couple of months too – they’re playing a string of dates in Australia, Europe and the USA between now and the end of June.

Escapism LP [Liquicity Records]

Those of you with their fingers on the pulse of the liquid scene might have already heard this one when it dropped back in February but it only landed in our inbox recently. Still, the tunes on show proved too good not to talk about! Liquicity Records proudly present to us their Escapism LP featuring 14 tracks of smooth, melodic drum & bass from producers big and small across the liquid spectrum.

The tracks are all top quality so it’s pretty tough to pick out favourites but the effortless opener from Bachelors of Science certainly proves a highlight of the LP. Elsewhere the soft, twinkling lead of Maduk’s Change and the unconventional electric guitar work of Dan Dakota’s appropriately titled Telecaster both stand out, while BCee’s The Falls takes us to deeper territory with style.

Check out all the tracks below and pick up the album on vinyl, CD or digital now!

Bryzone – Trial Run / Stargaze [Soulvent Records]

18 year old Bryzone has already developed a keen sense for the deeper side of D&B as evidenced by the smooth liquid vibes of his latest work for Soulvent Records. A side Trial Run makes good use of the soft vocals of Jenny Mayhem over a crisp break and simple piano arrangements, while Stargaze lets the melody take centre stage over a slightly more angular yet break, retaining that soft quality to a different rhythm. Look out for this one now at all good digital stores.
