Sublime – Falling [Bay 6 Recordings]

Bay 6 return with more liquid goodness to wash away one’s worries, which here in the UK is no bad thing. Politics. Don’t ask. The latest single comes courtesy of Cambridge newcomer Sublime, who draws on the city’s rich liquid heritage to turn in two funky new numbers for the Bay 6 catalogue.

Falling provides the dancefloor business, combining classic jungle-tinged funk breaks and a very garage-esque bassline for a cut that could well be vintage Hospital Records business. Over on the flip the breaks remain jungley but the vibes go deeper, taking a leaf or two from Calibre’s bible of D&B production for a simple, understated roller.

Wicked stuff! Check out the clips below and hit up Beatport to grab the release right now.

Get To Know…Bay 6 Recordings

Regular readers may well have picked up on the fact that we quite like Bay 6 Recordings. In fact we’d go so far as to say it’s one of our favourite small liquid imprints around right now, and that’s in the face of some fairly stiff competition to boot. 2016 felt like the perfect time to resurrect our ‘Get To Know’ label showcase feature, so for the first of many we present the finer points of the Bay 6 discography. Midn8runner – Clear Truth EP [Bay 6 Recordings]

Bay 6 Recordings have really impressed us over their last few releases, with label owner Amphix showing a keen ear when signing up and coming liquid producers to his burgeoning imprint. Their latest release from Midn8runner continues that trend, with a pair of crisp liquid rollers buoyed along by warmth and feeling.

Soft instrumentation and old-school breakwork characterise both tracks, with the uplifting piano melodies of Silver Lining edging it out as the Dojo favourite. Check out the clips below and look for this one dropping at all good digital stores tomorrow.

XCUZMe – From The Ashes / Turin Jazz [Bay 6 Recordings]

XCUZMe steps up with the latest for Bay 6 Recordings, and true to the label’s aesthetic it’s smooth liquid vibes all the way. Despite the melancholy title lead track From The Ashes feels entirely uplifting, buoyed along by bright piano, playful bleepy melodies and warm sub.

Over on the flip we get an ode to Tomasso XCUZMe’s home town of Turin, with the cheery tones of the A side replaced by a fiercer and more dancefloor focussed vibe. The floaty pads prevent things from sounding too ominous, leading to a solid subby rollout. Tasty! Check out the clips below and hit up your favourite digital store to grab the single now.

Kairos – Ho2k / Walks of Life [Bay 6 Recordings]

Essex label Bay 6 are a new name to us here at the Dojo but definitely one we’ll be keeping an eye on in future. Their latest comes from Colchester’s Kairos who brings two deep, understated slices of liquid D&B to the table.

Ho2k layers up piano, soft pads and warm sub against a simple but effective 2step kick/click drum beat for a composition that feels effortless absolutely effortless. Walks of Life switches up the drums for a more shuffling rhythm set to a shimmering array of synths, once again keeping it understated but evocative.

Check out the clips below and head to Juno to grab these right now!
