Mauoq’s latest project on his very own Mauoq Music imprint sees previous tracks from the man himself getting the remix treatment from some talented scene luminaries, and we’re hyped to present the exclusive of Conduct’s remix of Voids! Switching up the original’s full-roll into a skittering halftime pattern and adding plenty of the detailed sound design Conduct are known for, this one goes deep…look for the tunes on vinyl and digital from May 9th on Bandcamp with other outlets following on the 16th.
Mauoq continues the run of excellent releases on his Mauoq Music imprint and this time he’s brought friends! Combos #2 sees the Italian producer teaming up with some of his pals in the scene and we’ve got the premiere of Bredren collaboration Staircase.
True to their respective styles this is a dark, brooding take on the halftime sound with heavy kicks and snares punctuating tense atmospheres. Snarling bass and trippy FX hits ice the sonic cake nicely; check it out and look out for the EP dropping via Bandcamp from March 15th, with general release following on March 29th.
Italian producer Mauoq has fast become one of our favourite underground artists over the last few years so we’re incredibly pleased to have the exclusive on one of the new cuts from his very own Mauoq Music imprint!
Mannoy gets the remix treatment from US head Kozmo, taking the original smoother and flipping it round into a bleeped out, wonky slice of halftime D&B with skittering drums and tons of character. Sick! Hit up the Mauoq Music Bandcamp to pre-order now; MQM007 drops Nov 16th on bandcamp with full release following Nov 30th.
Real life has been getting in the way of the important matter of blogging about D&B lately here at Dojo HQ, leaving us with a glut of worthy releases in need of coverage. Without further ado then, here are some of the finest new beats from the last few weeks courtesy of Redders, Straying Reality, Gancher & Ruin and more…
Belgian duo Mtwn return to Diffrent Music with a fantastic new release featuring top class production and some really interesting ideas. Embers kicks the EP off with a cracking progression from deep, sombre half-step with a cheeky riff that sounds like a 90s hardcore line run through the washing machine a few times, before morphing into a frenzy of break chopping that brought an instant smile to this reviewer’s face!
The Diffrent family get involved on the oddly titled Tales of a Tonka TruckDriver, with Arkaik, Dexta and Mauoq all lending their studio chops to an angular and moody slice of halftime D&B driven along by super tight percussion. Spinal Groove sees Mtwn continuing that theme, contrasting darker bass and drum elements against soft, ethereal pad sounds to great effect. Last up, Four brings a sparse but effective groove that should get more than a few heads nodding along at the speakers.
The release is out right now via the Diffrent Bandcamp so check the clips below and go grab it!
Our latest exclusive mix comes from Italian producer Mauoq! With releases on Diffrent Music, Terabyte, Absys, Dispatch Ltd, Nurtured Beatz and his own Mauoq Music imprint, Mauoq has been blazing a trail across the deep, dark spectrum of D&B for some time. He’s put together a quality selection for our latest mix including tracks from his brand new Fabricate EP and dubs from Survey, Last Life, Facing Jynx and more. Yes yes!
Mauoq returns with two more fresh cuts on his newly revitalised Mauoq Music imprint, and the man is exploring fresh territory compared to his usual gritty halftime style.
Both Worlds hits up a bouncy, dub-infused tone over a halftime rhythm, with rich bass and eclectic FX driving the tune along in a deep but fun loving fashion. Mannoy ups the ante, bringing a rolling break and more rich sonic textures. Lovely stuff on both tracks! Check out the clips below and look for this at all good digital outlets right now.
Four years of silence have passed since Mauoq Music’s first release, but Mauoq has finally taken it upon himself to revive the imprint with two fresh new takes on the tracks from the first release. Medika turns in a fresh remix of Aerosolid while Mauoq revisits Free The Past for a new VIP. Both tracks deliver exactly the kind of deep, atmospheric halfstep the man has made his name delivering over the past few years; no surprises, but plenty to enjoy. Check out the clips below and grab this one from Bandcamp now, with full release following from Feb 20th.
Terabyte welcome Diffrent/Dispatch/Flexout alumnus Mauoq to the fold for a cracking new single to close out the year. Grey Scale builds up nicely with soft strings and piano before dropping into a shuffling beat and typically grimey bassline. The groove on this track is phenomenal, and the contrast between dark and light elements works really well as the piano licks re-emerge in the mix.
Over on the flip Itchy Way keeps the crisp beats in play with more soft, ethereal pad work on the intro giving way gradually to squelchy bass rumblings. The use of space really makes this one, allowing all the elements to breath nicely. Check out the clips below and grab this one from your favourite digital outlet from December 8th.
Nurtured Beatz have been carving a nice little niche for themselves since the label’s inception in 2013 and their 5th release sees them upping the ante with a 15 track Various Artists LP featuring up and coming producers alongside scene stalwarts like Genotype, all turning in deep dark 170BPM business.
Highlights come in the form of the kick heavy drum lines of Kolectiv & Incognito’s Circle Of Sound, the gloomy half-time atmosphere of Mystic State’s Street Talk and the menacing distorted snares and 90s techstep vibe of Paragon’s Detractors. Check out all the LPs tracks below and grab a copy from your favourite digital outlet now!
