Mindscape’s Favourite Remixes

Commercial Suicide have brought together the great and the good of the neurofunk scene to remix tracks from Mindscape’s Martin Chronicles LP. To celebrate the release of part 1 (and the impending release of part 2), we asked Mindscape to pick out his 5 favourite D&B remixes. Read on for his choices!

Mindscape: I love remixes. It’s always an interesting thing to hear the same tune from another producer’s point of view, or hear a good tune freshened up. It’s not easy to reduce the list to five only, because I have about a billion favourites, I could say 8 new favs immediately…but ok let’s try to pick five:

Ed Rush & Optical – Compound (Gridlok Remix)

The Wormhole LP means a lot to me, I listened to it back and forth a hundred times when it came out, and Compound is one of my favourite tracks on it. Gridlok is a brilliant producer, he kept the original vibes but with a twist, just to make the remix even sicker than the original, that’s how a remix should be done properly!

Dom & Roland – Mind Feeders (Mindscape Remix)

I’ve been a big Dom & Roland fan since the Industry album, loving his dark visions of the future, that you can hear in his tunes. Mind Feeders is one of my favourite newer Dom tunes, so it was a big honour when he asked me for a remix. I tried to keep the original vibes as much as possible, because I like and respect the original tune so much; I added a little Mindscape flavour, and updated the sound a bit, aimed for a dancefloor killer version of it.

Faith In Chaos – Possession (Kemal & Rob Data Remix)

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9p3jxC5lzY]

Just listen to this tune, should I say anything more? I remember the first time I heard this at a big outdoor festival, and then I heard it three more times on the same night, fortunately. That simple but huge reese riff, those delayed vocals, rolling beats and those synths. This is just a perfect dnb tune! And it’s my girl’s favourite as well 😀

I heard a funny story a few days ago, this tune got played at a gig, later one of the security guys showed up and told my mate “this is the best tune I’ve heard for years, seriously” and this bouncer is not a drum and bass head at all.

Optiv – Krakpot (Jade Remix)

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q33uAQNN4oI]

Optiv is a studio magician, and the original tune is big, so the opportunity was there. Jade took it, twisted it out and made a stomping banging remix monster. You can play this anytime, the effect is always guaranteed.

Cause 4 Concern – Peep Show (Audio Remix)

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihGg2xZyPQs]

Peep Show is one of the most played C4C tune from the “golden ages” and it’s always risky to make a remix for a classic tune, but Audio did a great job to make it sound modern again with his smashing hi-tech sounding remix!

You can hear the past and the future together in this one, and it does a serious damage in the clubs!
