Our first mix of 2020 comes from Junglist 1996, the old school D&B alias recently started by Polish producer Roominsky. As you might expect for a producer with a number of recent releases for Beat Spectrum, Roominsky delivers a mix full of cuts from the Aussie label alongside technoid and darkstep selections from Position Chrome, Perkussiv Music and Habit Recordings. Anyone hankering for the hard, amen-edged sounds of late 90s and early 2000s D&B will definitely enjoy this one!
Roominsky’s new Junglist 1996 side-project lands on Beat Spectrum this month, delivering a razor-sharp update on the classic 90s jungle sound. Dungeon takes no prisoners, blending growling reese bass with crusty breakbeats and sci-fi sampling for an eerie assault of distortion and punch. Watch out for the release landing Nov 15th…
Mark Kloud steps up with a killer remix for today’s premiere! Presenting a unique take on Dojo boss Hex’s 2015 track Weightless, Mark flips the liquid original into an experimental epic, building slowly with incredible sound design before dropping into a frenzy of glitchy percussion and groaning bass. Look out for this coming Friday on Beat Spectrum alongside remixes from K2T and D Flect, plus a VIP from Hex!
Melbourne DJ and Beat Spectrum boss Animate has cooked up our latest exclusive mix, delivering a superb and varied selection! Featuring hordes of Beat Spectrum releases (and a few dubs) alongside new cuts and classics from across the scenes, this is a 45 minute journey taking in liquid, deep tech, halftime, jungle and neuro smashers to boot; all the styles of D&B right here.
160 jungle straight outta Helsinki on today’s exclusive as Hmr lands on one of our favourite imprints down under, Beat Spectrum. Supa Dupa is a classic jungle rinser; big sub, ragga samples and those crispy crispy breakbeats. More of this please! Check out the track below and watch out for this dropping Jan 26th at all the usual outlets.
Today’s exclusive lies at the very edge of what might traditionally be considered drum & bass, blending influences from footwork, IDM and the Autonomic sound for a deep, mellow, hypnotic outing. A winning hand indeed…out to Øska for a seriously unique track!
Australian imprint Beat Spectrum return with a tidy new EP from Danish producer Mindloader, and we’ve got the exclusive on lead track Bad Faith! This one is all about the progression, shifting from shimmering liquid depths in the first half to a darker vibe on the second drop as beefier tech bass sizzles away in the mix. Look for this at all the usual digital spots from September 30th…
Previously unsigned UK producer Omega Point drops his first release this month with Melbourne label Beat Spectrum and we’ve got the exclusive on Inbetween! Putting the emphasis on ultra-tight precision percussion and b-line funk, this one takes a leaf or two from the DLR playbook for a solid slice of dancefloor tech. Sick! Look out for this dropping Apr 28th on the Frostbite EP via the Beat Spectrum Bandcamp.
