We’re relaunching our dormant Get To Know series this month and first in the spotlight is London imprint Inperspective Records! Label boss Chris has turned a few heads recently via his outspoken criticism of Hospital Records, and the recent launch of the Black Junglist Alliance, but his roots in the scene run far deeper than the last few months – for twenty years now Inperspective has provided a top-class selection of jungle and drumfunk leaning sounds. Read on for a look through our favourites from the label archive.
Lush liquid goodness for warm summer evenings; Matt View’s Midnight Heat lives up to it’s name in a big way! Delicious melodies and rolling breaks, what more could you ask for? Hit up Beatport to grab this one right now!
Sydney artist Anomie lands in our premiere spotlight today with a track fusing rave, jungle, hip-hop and halftime beat patterns for a slice of detailed, high energy experimentalism. Deliciously wonky vibes! Look out for this coming via Inna Riddim from Aug 28th.
Prepare yourself for a deep groove on today’s exclusive as Edinburgh producer OHARE lands on Off-License Records! No Time is powered along by crispy drums, hypnotic leads and a sultry vocal hook – very slick! Watch out for the EP coming August 18th…
We’re hyped to have a techstep legend in the premiere spotlight today! Taken from his new EP for CNVX, The Dreamer sees DSCI4 boss Trace teaming up with Berlin duo Survey for a retro-future sci-fi roller; from the spacey pads of the intro through the crunchy breaks and modulated basslines, this is the soul of late 90s dark D&B brought up to the minute with 2020 production techniques, and it sounds glorious. Look for this coming August 14th on Bandcamp!
We’re suckers for a deep liquid roller here at Dojo HQ and Echo Motion certainly knows his way around one! Adding Riddim Records to the suite of labels he’s graced over the last couple of years, Reserved shows off a talent for understated melody and stripped back yet emotive vibes; those who worship at the altar of Calibre should enjoy this one! Watch out for the release coming Aug 17th.
We’re big fans of Mark Kloud’s output here at Dojo HQ, and likewise big fans of the three-headed hydra that is Lossless Music / Exkursions / Dope Plates, so news that Mark would be dropping his debut album for Soul Intent’s esteemed outfit got us pretty excited. Read on for the lowdown on all things Moonquake, and check out our premiere of Sea Crest below!
Soul Defiance lands on Addictive Behaviour with a sick new EP and we’re hyped to have the premiere of Roller 123! Seriously rude basslines, rolling drums and jazz sax combine for a tune that provides the perfect mix of screwface inducing weight and musical chops. Look out for this dropping exclusively at Beatport from Aug 3rd, with other outlets following Aug 10th.
