Fearful – Premonition Remix Contest

Fearful has been a busy man of late! Between releases for Diffrent, AutomAte and a fantastic mix for DNB Dojo, Chris has also found time to craft a fresh bit of techno in the form of self released track Premonition. The producers in the Dojo readership should be interested to hear that he’s running a remix contest around the track, with first place netting a white 12″ DIFF025 vinyl and runners up treated to early copies of Fearful releases on digital.

You can check out the original track below in all it’s brooding glory; head over to Soundcloud to grab the stems and get your remix in to the Soundcloud group by September 21st 2015 to be in with a chance of winning.

Icicle – Entropy Live

icicle-LIVEONLY-portrait

Icicle is teaming up with Skittles to take a new project on the road called Entropy Live which promises to be something a bit different from the average DJ set. The man himself describes it as follows:

Entropy Live is based on hardware, controllers, live synthesis, sequencing and analogue mixing. There is no digital audio workstation involved and I cannot simply press play and take a step back. Sonically the show is a re-imagining of my album Entropy with some additional music from my earlier career and live improvisations. I think this show is about technical excellence as much as it is about depth, and Skittles is the embodiment of that sentiment holding a microphone.

Check out a teaser for the tour below and hit up Icicle’s website for tour dates across Europe over the next few months.

Xtrah to release “extended project” via Dispatch Recordings

Fresh news from Dispatch HQ; it seems Xtrah is to release an “extended” project via Ant TC1’s label later this year, with a tentative release date of Autumn 2015 set. Between this and the launch of his new Cyberfunk imprint it looks set to be a busy year for Xtrah. Details are scarce as to what exactly this project might be, but we’ll bring you more as we hear it!

Fundraiser Launched for the Father of the Amen Break

The amen break is a sound familiar to every junglist; chopped up, distorted, recycled and reused, it spawned entire genres of music and changed the musical world via the simple joy of sampling and reinterpretation. Unfortunately however, the musicians behind the original record never made any money for their efforts, and by the time they found out about the sampling it was far too late under US law to pursue anyone for royalties.

Well the kindly Martyn Webster is aiming to change all that via a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe; he’s asking for donations to set things right so that Richard Spencer, the song’s writer, can finally receive something for his work. The campaign has already raised over £1,500 – if you’re feeling generous head over here and chuck the unwitting father of jungle a few quid for his trouble.
