Ten Years of Vision Recordings

Noisia’s Vision Recordings imprint is among the pack of esteemed D&B labels celebrating its 10th anniversary, and to mark the occasion they’ve remastered a host of top tracks from the Vision back catalogue which they’ll be releasing on CD, USB stick and digital download alongside two new tracks exclusive to the compilation (both of which you can preview below).

For the merchandise-hungry there are also bundles available featuring a 10 years of Vision t-shirt and a rather tasty (if somewhat expensive) 12″ artwork book featuring full size, full colour artwork from every single release on the label. Head over to the Noisia store to pick up one of the bundles now, or cop it from your favourite digital outlet.

10 Years of Shogun Audio

Friction’s Shogun Audio are celebrating 10 years in style with a massive bundle of new tunes. The 10 Years compilation features brand new beats alongside remixes of some Shogun classics, and comes in a beautiful six piece vinyl box set.

Dancefloor tech is well represented among the new tracks with beats from Icicle & Prolix, Friction, Joe Ford and Fourward all bringing the hard and nasty vibes. There’s also rolling liquid from LSB and Technimatic, a new genre bender from Rockwell and something a little unusual from Spectrasoul in the form of Ben. On the remix front, Spor’s anthemic Aztec gets a pretty hyperactive rework from Calyx & Teebee, Aliz Perez and Spectrasoul get the liquid refix treatment from Calibre and Etherwood respectively, and Fourward turn in a chunky new mix of Dark Days. Last but by no means least, Total Science & S.P.Y bring us a new VIP of another back catalogue fave – 2010’s Gangsta.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, the set also includes a poster, stickers, 3 CDs and a DVD; the CDs provide the new tracks in digital form, a selection of classics from the Shogun back catalogue and a fresh mix from Friction, while the DVD features a 10 Years documentary. There are only 500 copies of the full bundle available so head over to the Shogun Audio store pronto if you want to bag one, or save your wallet and grab the CD or digital package.

Noisia – Hyenas / The Liquid [Vision]

Noisia’s Vision imprint has been relatively quiet since the release of The Upbeats excellent Primitive Technique (which has finally dropped on vinyl for the wax enthusiasts out there, incidentally). It seems the boys have been hard at work in the studio though, both on their I Am Legion collaboration and some new neurofunk masterworks. The label’s latest sees the dutch trio team up first with Calyx & Teebee for Hyenas and then with US hardstep dons Evol Intent for The Liquid.

Calyx & Teebee’s signature punchy sound shines through on the A side with intricate drum work and a catchy synth lead taking centre stage. Over on the flip EI’s knack for glitchy touches combines with some epic synth work and a truly monstrous bassline to create a tune that you can expect to hear rewound over and over again in the next few weeks. Huge just doesn’t even cover this!

Watch out for the release dropping exclusively via Beatport from October 7th with vinyl and other digital stores to follow on the 21st.

Dose – What Lies Within / Simultaneous [SGN:Ltd]

Dose’s first single for SGN:Ltd left me a little disappointed; I’ve been a big fan of his releases over the years and his two 12″s for Subtitles were top notch, but Face Your Fears lacked the usual punch that I associate with the Kiwi producer. This latest pair of tunes shows that the man hasn’t lost his edge though, pulling out a veritable pair of dancefloor destroying neuro badboys!

What Lies Within wastes no time heading straight for the build up, with big squelchy bass building to a massive drop with a tasty main hook. Simultaneous on the flip strips things back a little, hitting in with a varied drum break and a sub heavy, morphing bassline.

To celebrate the release Dose has cooked up the second in the SGN Mix Sessions series, throwing down 30 mins of hard hitting neuro including tunes from The Upbeats, Calyx & Teebee and Teddy Killerz. Noice! Check out the mix below and watch out for the 12″ dropping on May 27th.
