Long time Dojo favourites Nurtured Beatz are back in the Dojo spotlight for today’s exclusive as we present the premiere of Black Opps – MechWarriors! Evoking the spirit of classic early 00s tech, this one is dark, rolling and sci-fi tinged. Ominous business to murk up the dance! Look for this dropping on the Kill The Oppressor EP from April 14th.
With a top notch new EP out on Dispatch LTD and a string of tidy releases for the likes of Proximity & Invisible, Tephra & Arkoze have been turning heads over the last two years. We caught up with them for a quick chat about the Ascertain EP, collaborating with Survey and their love for old school hip-hop.
Precision joins the ranks of Nurtured Beatz with a cracking new EP later this month and we’ve got the exclusive on closing track What Could You! Featuring smooth pads, deep sub and a crispy break, this is classic roller territory and executed with style and finesse.
As always you can get your hands on this first via the Nurtured Beatz Bandcamp; the EP drops there Aug 26th with full release a week later.
We’re big fans of Nurtured Beatz here at DNB Dojo so naturally we jumped at the chance to get label co-owner Spindall on board for a mix! He’s turned in a 100% Beatz selection featuring a ton of dubs and true to the label’s ethos the selections are deep, dark and absolutely heavyweight.
This week’s Dojo Damager comes courtesy of Lincoln-based production duo Soligen & Type-2 who bring a wicked slice of modulated tech funk to Nurtured Beatz. Amping things up a bit compared to some of the imprint’s deeper releases, It Gets Lively rolls hard and heavy with crispy breaks and a moving, scuzzed up bassline. Punchy business! Hit up the Nurtured Beatz Bandcamp to grab this one right now, with full release coming next week.
Following hot on the heels of our last mix from Fuj, Terra Null Recordings boss Cirrus steps up with the 25th instalment of the DNB Dojo Mix Series! Whether via the excellent releases on Terra Null or his other work for Terabyte, Nurtured Beatz and AutomAte, Cirrus has been making waves within the dark D&B world for a couple of years and that looks set to continue.
His selection for DNB Dojo features new dubs from the catalogues of Terabyte, Alchemic Breaks and Terra Null alongside a host of Cirrus productions and beats from the likes of Ruffhouse, Red Army and Skeptical. Militant head nodders and grimey textures all the way on this one.
2016 is already looking like a great year for drum & bass, so without further ado we’ll be taking a look at some of the worthy releases that have hit the Dojo inbox so far this year. Read on for new beats from Genotype, PIN, Sully and more… Continue reading →
We’re taking things dark and militant for this week’s Damager selection with a look at the appropriately titled Nightmare from the brand new Cirrus EP for Nurtured Beatz.
Built on a backbone of throbbing bass pressure and heavy halftime kicks, Nightmare really brings the terror with drum switchups into relentless breakbeat anger via crunchy, clattering amens. Savage business! Check out the clip below and hit up the Nurtured Beatz bandcamp to grab the whole EP now.
Nurtured Beatz continue their fine tradition of heavy hitting halftime D&B with a new EP from US producer Red Army. Ranging from the up front bass driven stomper Badmon to deeper moody territory on Interlinecollab Solution the EP brings a range of styles to the table, with crisp percussion and atmospherics giving the tracks a consistent feel.
While the title track is probably the most dancefloor friendly and accessible, the EP’s best material arguably comes on the back end as Red Army teams up with fellow American Epilleptech for two fantastic new beats. Fear slaps the listener about with massive kicks and snares and a positively snarling bassline while Jungle Thief goes in on tribal percussion and creepy pads for a tidy swansong to a really strong EP.
You can pick this one up exclusively from the Nurtured Beatz Bandcamp right now with full release coming from Monday.
