Dojo Damager: L 33 – Badman

Regular readers will already know that we’re big fans of Addictive Behaviour here at the Dojo and their latest release proved an absolutely perfect fit for this week’s Dojo Damager! Bulgarian neurofunk producer L 33 makes his fourth appearance on the label with the aptly titled Badman; punchy futuristic snares, crunchy bass and tons of energy make this a superbly detailed dancefloor weapon. Check out the clip below and look for this at Beatport from Dec 4th, with vinyl following on the 11th and worldwide digital release on the 18th.

Handra – Eyes On You EP [Addictive Behaviour]

Following on from their rather tasty single for the label last year, Handra return to Addictive Behaviour with new material that continues their style for techstep with a deeper vibe and unusual elements.

Lead track Eyes On You sees the duo team up with Mortem for a track that marries a solid tech backbone of beats and bass with a truly weird vocal line…either the vocalist was pretty agitated during the recording session or the boys have done some pretty wacky processing, but either way the results catch your ear immediately and provide a unique take on the D&B template.

Next up comes a remix of Coat Of Dust from Russian techstep maestro Eastcolors. True to form this is crisp, techy and warm, with tough beats contrasting nicely against the more melodic elements. Last but by no means least, Far Away sees Handra going in super deep on a beautiful slice of mellow halftime D&B with a soft, melancholy air and tons of feeling. It’s definitely the least dancefloor friendly tune on the release but also the most heartfelt, and it’s definitely out favourite on a really strong EP.

You can pick up the EP on vinyl or digital direct from the Addictive Behaviour store right now. Check out the clips below and go grab it!

Rotation Part One [Addictive Behaviour]

Addictive Behaviour storm back to the scene after a selection of successful single releases with eight new tracks for part one of their Rotation LP. Kiev bass badman and Dojo favourite Fade leads the charge with the crisp, heavy hitting vibes of Danger, swiftly followed by the stomping tech funk of Artifact’s Discordant. Both these tracks deserve a special mention for the attention to detail and vibe present…serious stuff!

Elsewhere on the EP there are moody rollers from Screwball and Noel, a deep stepper from Nitri, Level 2 & Hannah Eve and more monstrous neurofunk bangers from nScape, TR Tactics and Nitri & Release. Tidy selections from a label that has impressed us fairly constantly since their inception; we can’t wait for part two!

Sadly there’s no vinyl release for this one but you can grab the release from all good digital stores right now! Check out the clips below and pick your favourites.

Competition – Win A Detail & Tiiu 12″

News of a fresh collab from Detail & Tiiu landing on Addictive Behaviour was a pleasant surprise here at the Dojo, being big fans as we are of both the label and the artists involved. The pair’s last collaboration for Symmetry back in 2013 made us wish for more, and Delusion delivers the same deep, mournful vibe in spades. Over on the flip, Detail goes in on a dark, ominous slice of stripped back tech funk for Breakout.

Being generous folk, the Addictive Behaviour crew have given us a 12″ of the single to give away to one lucky winner! To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is like the DNB Dojo Facebook page, like the Addictive Behaviour Facebook page, and send an email to competitions@dnbdojo.co.uk with your name & address and the subject line “Detail & Tiiu Competition”. The winner will be drawn on May 2nd.

Meanwhile you can check out clips of the release below – watch for the release dropping on vinyl April 27th with digital following from May 11th.

Minor Rain – Flux / Thunderbird [Addictive Behaviour]

Addictive Behaviour keep the releases coming thick and fast, with a new single from Slovakian producer Minor Rain. Flux leads the single with a dark, sci-fi infused neuro roller. Crisp drums, growling bass and hypnotic melodies come together, and the composition avoids the hyper-active bassline stylings that sometimes spoil modern neurofunk tracks, preferring a simpler but no less hefty set of bass riffs.

Thunderbird follows on with a similar vibe – tight kicks and snares and a driving bass riff provide the backbone of the tune, with atmospheric pads, bleedy melodies and FX icing the proverbial cake. Super detailed production! Check out the clips below – you can grab this now from Beatport, with worldwide digital and vinyl release due on December 8th.

TR Tactics – Time Slice / Cone [Addictive Behaviour]

Austria appears to be a hotbed of D&B talent right now, with Fourward and Mefjus both at the top of their game and tons of other great producers plying their wares, including TR Tactics. The duo return to Addictive Behaviour with another no nonsense neurofunk release, featuring two tracks of crisp, weighty, futuristic D&B. Cone comes out on top for the sheer bass grime factor of it, but both tracks are well worth a listen – check them out below and look for the release on Beatport from October 6th with full release following from October 20th.

Handra – Coat of Dust / Stay Away [Addictive Behaviour]

Addictive Behaviour take things a little deeper than usual on their latest release from newcomers Handra. The polish production duo serve up a stripped back piano-led roller on Coat of Dust, amping up the atmosphere nicely. Stay Away seems to have the dancefloor more firmly in its sights, with a higher impact beat and more bass texture, though the stripped-back stylings are still evident.

Handra should be one to watch this year if they can continue with releases of this quality. Check out the clips below and watch out for the release dropping on Beatport from September 1st, with vinyl and worldwide digital release following on September 15th.

If you’re itching to hear more from Handra then be sure to check out their recent promo mix featuring Stay Away and seven other tracks. Check it out below!

L 33 – Melt / Let Loose [Addictive Behaviour]

L 33 is back with another pair of dirty dancefloor belters, this time for Addictive Behaviour records. Melt gets the party started with a fuzzy bassline, tight drums and an infectious high-pitched synth hook. Let Loose provides a similarly infectious bass and beats groove, with extra energy from the high hats and plenty of bass modulations to keep things interesting.

Check out the beats below and watch out for the single dropping from July 21st at Beatport, with vinyl and worldwide digital release to follow on August 4th.

High Rollers Vol. 1 [Addictive Behaviour]

New label Addictive Behaviour launch their debut release with a selection of tight, techy beats from four of the hottest up and coming producers on the scene. Detail opens the salvo with Lost Time, a slice of robotic funk that takes a few pages from the book of Phace, without going in quite as hard as the German neuro don tends to hit us. Next up Eastcolors delivers the twisted, warped sounds of Mad Day. Eerie synth sounds on the intro give way to groaning modulated bass and a driving drum beat that keeps the tune rolling along with a fearsome precision.

L33 offers up some interesting sounds on Discrete, with what sounds like plucked strings blending nicely with a minimal yet techy composition. Finally Minor Rain takes us on an old-school tinted ride, modern neurofunk bass combining nicely with the classic synth stabs of early Virus Recordings material. Equal parts dancefloor sensibilities, technicality and attention to detail, fans of the cleverer side of techstep should definitely give this EP a look.
