Audio – Force of Nature [Virus]

Audio’s third LP for Virus Recordings touched down last week and predictably it’s a bit of a monster, with huge tearing tracks like Airborne and Botfly taking centre stage. In between the stompers Audio has also crafted some less predictable numbers such as the infectious melody-infused Mudshark and the gritty Carcuss featuring the vocal talents of Stapleton. Audio also indulges his obvious passion for movies by pilaging King of New York for samples on the appropriately titled Pusher, which brings to mind his excellent work on Power of Fear.

Way of the Warrior 2 LP [Shogun Audio]

After the success of 2011’s Way of the Warrior LP, Shogun return with another installment and 12 new tracks spanning the D&B spectrum. DLR brings us soulful vibes with a techy undertone and some superb percussion on Sleep Talk, and Rockwell and Joe Ford vie for position with Fourward and Mefjus to see who can turn in the dirtiest neuro belter!

Elsewhere on the LP Spectrasoul, Total Science and Technimatic serve up some smooth liquid rollers and Friction gets on the remix for Addison Groove and Sam Binga turning in a trap-infused rework of RZOR. Something for D&B heads of all tastes here. Check out the beats below and watch out for the release from November 10th.

Dominic Petrie – Tomorrow Now EP [Ingredients]

Dominic Petrie has been building his rep for quite some years now, with releases (some under his previous moniker of Y2D) on Nerve, Lifestyle, Phuzion and Sound Artillery. His latest work for the esteemed Ingredients signals a step up in the game, and one that’s long overdue.

Depth, soul and beauty run throughout the tracks, most of them melancholy in texture. Riverside Blues combines piano, vocals and a smooth, rolling break to distil an unusual sadness into drum & bass production, while Ephemerol Test and Exponent of Escape explore eccentric drum programming and atmospherics.

Soho treats us to lush pads, deep bass and simple kick/snare rhythms, while sci-fi nod TMA-1 provides the EPs only gritty number; reminiscent of some of Data’s finer work, and with a growling bassline to be proud of. Finally Empire and Beyond the Wall of Sleep close out the EP nicely with muted, jazz-infused liquid blues.

Check out previews of the whole EP below and look out for the release on vinyl and digital from Monday 11th November.

Syk2ne – Abnormal Behaviour EP [Free Download]

Syk2ne delivers a nice free release with his Abnormal Behaviour EP showcasing two slices of filthy hardstep. Cinematic soundscapes combine with tearing basslines and face-melting drum lines to great effect. Fans of the breakcore/metal tinged end of D&B should definitely give this a listen. Conduct & Lockjaw – Futile / Big System [Lifestyle]

Lifestyle return with a big new single sure to be smashing up a few dancefloors in the near future! Conduct kick things off with some atmospherics and echoing breaks on the intro to Futile, building the tension with rising filtered synth work before amping things up with an absolutely monstrous bassline and heavy hitting compressed kicks and snares. Oooft!

Over on the flip Lockjaw deliver the appropriately titled Big System, a track clearly written with said large bass bins in mind. Throbbing modulated bass and tough, rolling breaks line up nicely to create another slice of techie business. Check out the beats below and watch out for the release dropping in all good digital stores from November 4th.

Nuage – So Long EP [Translation]

Translation return with their twentieth release from Russian producer Nuage, showcasing the producers versatility crossing styles and tempos. Last Seen opens the EP with a sublime slice of melody driven garage, while Compared heads for funky, infectious house territory. Both tracks are full of lush, beautiful synth work, with as much attention to musicality as dancefloor sensibilities.

Unexperience continues the infectious house groove with some nice vocal treatment from Ellie, while So Long sees the producer returning to 170 realms with a soulful, experimental composition characterised by chant-like vocal cut ups and more lavish synth backdrops. Finally there’s a cheeky freebie in the way of Simple Story, which you can grab from Bandcamp here. Look out for the release via all good digital outlets from November 4th.
